Located between administrative authority of Banjarnegara Regency and Wonosobo Regency, the highland plateau of Dieng is divided into two parts. The village of Dieng Kulon is part of Batur District, Banjarnegara Regency, whilst the village of Dieng Kulon is part of Kejajar District, Wonosobo Regency.

With an altitude of more than 2,000 meters above the sea level, climate of Dieng is cool throughout the day. Ranging between 15°C and 20°C in daylight and 10°C at night, temperature sometimes falls into 0°C in the morning especially between July and August.
